Have you tried enclosing the content within {{velocity}} content here
{{/velocity}} ?
This should solve your issue for pages with code that have been switched to
syntax 2.0 (if that's the case here). Velocity variables in XWiki syntax 2.0
are interpreted only if surrounded by the velocity macro.
