I don't know of any country that has gone metric as the result of a popular vote. The average person is not interested in the subject, and prefers to stick with what he already knows. A country goes metric when its governing body decides what is good for the country.. If it acts to please the people the country will metricate onlyy in a fragmentary, disorganized way.
