Mr. Seabrook,

I carefully read your article in the October 23 AJC. I realize that the AJC
probably has the opinion that no southern American reader would be able to
identify with the statement that a 2.00 meter man is 2 billion nanometers
tall. See how easy the connection is.

By the way, using King George III Colonial units, a man would have to be
6-foot-6 3/4. There is no way to really be accurate using such units since
that height would actually convert to 2.00025 meters.

My point is that we are in the 21st century and all Americans need to do
everything we can to wean ourselves away from King George III Colonial units
to the International System of units (SI-metric) and use them in our daily
lives just as the rest of the world has done, or in the case of Canada and
Britain, are in the final stages of doing.

By the way, I am 1.80 m and have a mass (weight) of 90 kg. I urge you to
learn your stats in that way and begin to think in those terms. Then
everything a place such as Georgia Tech does will instantly become more
relevant to you as you report on these valuable stories.

Sincerely,

Norman V. Werling
