Our newspaper has carried an article regarding a new technique for
detecting breast cancer. It is based on optical detection using lasers
in essentially a no-contact process. The technique is more sensitive
than traditional mammography, definitely less painful, and perhaps less
likely to give "false positives". The technique was developed at Clemson
University.

All the measurements in this article are in millimeters or centimeters,
with no conversions to ifp units. The link is at
   http://www.charleston.net/pub/news/local/newbrst1026.htm
today, but that may change. You should be able to find it by searching
the files for today's paper in the archives. The headline is "New breast
cancer test precise and painless" and it was written by LYNNE LANGLEY.

Before you go there, though, please consider going to
   http://health.yahoo.com/
and clicking on the pink ribbon graphic on the left side. Yahoo has
pledged a donation towards breast cancer research at $1 per click on
this graphic. The resulting screen has some important information that
might be of interest to you (and your favorite lady, if you're a male).
