We use extensively metric tubing for pneumatic aplications. The DIN pipe
fittings are very compatible with NPT threads so one can use them directly
into a female NPT thread but is officially not recommended. The tubing
becomes an even metric size (4,6, .. mm).

The supplier I use for pneumatics is FESTO. I don't know about copper or SS
fittings but I will find out and let you know.

We currently use significant numbers of NPT compression fittings in an
assembly. What options are available in Metric. Is the ISO fitting
becoming standard worldwide or is there significant variation from country
to country? Metric tubing appears to be available. What is the most common
Metric Fitting? Where can I source them?
