I'd like to thank Chris for sending this stuff our way. 1, it's replaced the 3 l
milk jug stories that I've had on my cubicle "wall" for months now. B, I now
have the two items up alongside the "metric martyr" story that the Baltimore Sun
ran on it's front page a few days ago (I wanted to include a URL, but between
this morning and now, it seems to have disappeared). I think it's being given a
sort of circus treatment in the US press.
I especially liked Mr Steven's statement "even if the EU had never been
invented, we'd still be where we are today." I showed these items to a co-worker
of mine (who is not anti-, but not rabidly pro-metric), who had pointed the Sun
article out to me originally. He said, "yeah, as in, even if they were the US
and joining the EU were not a question, metrication would still be an issue."
