Regarding Pat Naughtin's query about deca vs. deka (below):
The correct name is "deca" with the symbol "da". That was adopted by the
CGPM in 1960. My recollection is that it used to be deka with symbol dk.
Perhaps that was part of the earlier metric system prior to the creation of
SI.
