Well, I'm no expert, but it seems that a good place to begin is to identify any
members of the House and Senate who are likely supporters of such an amendment and
contact them (say, by the President of the USMA). From there we could talk to key
staff people to map out a strategy for getting an amendment introduced.

Is anyone from the USMA "brass" monitoring this thread? Any responses, thoughts,
suggestions?

Yes I agree, that's a very good goal. I don't think the public would mind
the least if 2 Liter soda lost there "67.6" designation, and the bottlers
would probably welcome it in the interests of simplifying labeling. From
there you gradually expand outward, including mouthwash, shampoo, bottled
water, etc.

The problem is getting someone to sponsor it, I don't know how you do that.
As usual the Feds are way behind the curve on this one.

PS Maybe we could attach it as a "rider" to the Bush tax cut.
