Downsizing and Metric

I think those who manage to associate downsizing to metric should be
informed that the US has been downsizing for some years now. Products are
primarily non-metric, but state metric equivalents. The downsizing is
occurring from one USCU size to another, not from rational imperial to
rational metric. There is no reason manufacturers couldn't upsize when
metricating.

Downsizing is preferred over raising prices. Prices increases show up on
inflation statistics, plus consumers might be frightened away from products
that look to expensive. Downsizing is preferred because the package never
really changes, it is just filled with more air.

Since downsizing is preferred by economists over price increases, and
governments like it too, because it makes it look like the politicians are
doing their job in keeping prices down, the BWMA and UKIP can bitch and moan
all they want. Their nonsense will fall on deaf ears. The reality is, the
people who really count and those that make the decisions on packaging will
just ignore anything they have to say.

It is obvious they are picking at straws. I wish I had their time to waste
on vain persist. But, I am happy they are virtually ignored by most
intelligent people.

John

Keiner ist hoffnungsloser versklavt als derjenige, der irrtmlich glaubt
frei zu sein.

There are none more hopelessly enslaved then those who falsely believe they
are free!

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832)
