I recently saw "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" — definately _not_ a Hollywood movie
;) — at the theatre. This movie is in Cantonese (?, I'm not sure exactly which spoken
language, I'm guessing here folks) with English subtitles.
When one of the central characters describes a sword that is central to the movie's
plot the subtitles gave the size in inches. Now this movie is placed in "medeval"
China and I wonder if anyone who understands Cantonese (?) and has seen the movie
knows if the references were spoken in pre-metric Chinese units.
If anyone in Europe has seen this movie translated into any language other than
English do you recall if the units given were in metric, American, or pre-metric
Chinese.

When American companies export their goods to other
countries, they ensure that its labelled in Metric.
But the Hollywood's movies are exported to the entire
world, but are they in metric in foreign countries.
By the way, do the foreigners see it in English or
translate it to their languages.
