Consider asking them this --
1. The American and British whiners are going to come to France, find road
signs in metric only, and likely rent a car with km only on the odometer. If
so -- then what good are "yards" and "miles" going to do them when they are
trying to determine road distances?
2. Rolling over dead for American and British whiners is beneath any decent
European.

RE: use of British units by MaporamaI got this answer from Maporama. They
claim that they tested the defaults of other languages than English and that
these were metric.
Then I erased all data their website left on my system from my Cookies and
Temporary Internet files and tried again. From their homepage I went
straight to the Dutch language option, then downloaded a map and itnerary.
This attempt was a failure. Ifp defaulted in the Dutch language. I will
unsubscribe from that site,

Dear Sir,
I have done some tests for you. Normally, if your language (the language you
select on the homepage) is other than English, you should have a map with
the metric system. If you choose the English language (which is the default
language of Maporama.COM), you may have a map in yards. In this case, you
can personalize it in order to obtain a map using metric system.
The metric system was the default unit measure before for every language
version of our website. We had some remarks from American and British users,
that is the reason why we changed the default unit measure for the English
version.
I want to add a point : Maporama is a Paris base company, but we want to
offer an INTERNATIONAL service, and we don't (and won't for sure)
communicate about our French origine. We won't impose metric system to
people who are used to the anglo-saxon system.
I hope you will be satisfied with those elements. Do not hesitate to write
me if you have any other questions.
Sincerely yours,
Nol Lebeaupin

Dear Mr. Lebeaupin, Mr. Tessier,
I am afraid that you have misread and misunderstood what I mean, and your
answer is not satisfactory to me. I knew that I can personalize the units,
but that is not the point; I stated that in my original message too. I
object in principle to non-metric units on continental European websites,
even more when these units are the *default* ones.
