I sent Carleton an answer from a public computer; I also CC 'ed it to my own
address but I never got that. So I cannot be sure whether Carleton got my
message.
In short, I put this question to Maporama and I told them what I think about
their kowtowing to those whiners. See USMA14678, 14679 and 14682: letter to
Maporama 1, 2 and 2.

Han,

Consider asking them this --

1. The American and British whiners are going to come to France, find road
signs in metric only, and likely rent a car with km only on the odometer.
If
so -- then what good are "yards" and "miles" going to do them when they are
trying to determine road distances?

2. Rolling over dead for American and British whiners is beneath any decent
European.

RE: use of British units by MaporamaI got this answer from Maporama. They
claim that they tested the defaults of other languages than English and that
these were metric.
Then I erased all data their website left on my system from my Cookies and
Temporary Internet files and tried again. From their homepage I went
straight to the Dutch language option, then downloaded a map and itnerary.
This attempt was a failure. Ifp defaulted in the Dutch language. I will
unsubscribe from that site,

Han
