Go to http://www.usmint.gov and do a search on either Golden Dollar or Sacagawea, and you will find very limited info.
 
But, as an example, you will see a listing of some businesses that are circulating the coins.  I can't say if all of the businesses that are listed are still doing so. 
 
But, the lack of info on the US mint site shows that even they are not really gun-ho about their own product.

Safeway is committed to maintaining Golden Dollar supplies to meet customer demand.
