Subject: [USMA:17624] Thinning the list

>All I am trying to say is that *We need leadership!*
>I have no clue what is going on and most of the people on the list dont
have either. Therefore, how can we be constructive?
>I am sure that all of us are doing this out of passion and everyones wife
must be saying the same thing.
>However, in the absence of leadership and focus, the discussion will most
likely continue in all sorts of directions.
>
>Why dont we try to start somewhere? Any suggestions?

Yes, of course.
1. The media: when information comes in non-SI language, creatively,
carefully, objectively, point out how much easier SI numbers are to
comprehend than (say) acres, fluid ounces, oF or whatever.

2. Government: relentlessly, creatively, carefully, objectively, urge
'government' to lead by example in the use of SI. This is particularly
appropriate where the Omnibus Trade Bill of 1988 (or other laws) can be be
invoked.

3. Education: press, press, press for comprehensive use of SI in the class
rooms of the nation. Encourage teachers and parents to support their
students/children by using SI themselves whenever practical.
