While I respect your political beliefs Jim, after reading your messages for 
the past year or two, and after considering others views as well, I have 
come to the conclusion that metrication in the USA WILL NOT happen with US 
legislation, or without a well publicized government example.

Otherwise, this whole thing is just academic.  Soft drinks here, cars 
there.  But we keep influencing the rest of the world to support dual units 
as well.  And that's just wrong.

Had Congress actually passed an Act with teeth in 1975, and had the 
generation there taken metrication seriously, I wouldn't have to deal with 
this stuff today. (I was born in 1974)

Anyway....I just felt like commenting.  If the government said...we're 
metric starting tomorrow...and everyone has to be metric starting Jan 1 
2004, I'd be a happy camper.
