Wow, Bill!  That's neat.  Thanks for letting me know, now...  Could you
please share with me how I could set my PC up for that?  It would be greatly
appreciated (I own a PC under Windows ME, BTW).  I was starting to think
that I'd have to go all the way to Brazil to buy me another keyboard...  :-S

Now, on the other hand how in the world would one access the acute, umlaut
and the cedilla things on a standard US board?...

Well, when my kids trashed my keyboard with food and drink, I replaced it with a Canadian bilingual keyboard,  $24.95 from Dell.  Works great and has all the accents.
