I don't want to go deep in this area, but there are many Americans who are as strongly anti-European as some Britons. Many Americans dislike the French because they think the French hate us. All Germans are Nazis, all Russians are Communists (Still). And there are still a lot of white Americans who don't like black people. They just tolerate the minorities because the law says they have too. And yes, If we did speak those languages we would be more in tune with those people and their culture and not be opposed to them. You must live in an ivory tower, where everybody thinks pure and pleasant thoughts and accepts and loves everybody else. Come down out of that tower once and a while and see the real world as it is. And you will find that people aren't as righteous as you may think. On the other hand, maybe I need to find me an ivory tower, where I can live a fantasy life. I'm sure it must be pleasant.
