As far as French is concerned : km/l : never used (we use "l/100", standing for "litres aux cent", i.e. liters of fuel necessary to cover 100 km). km/h : officially "kilom�tres par heure". Colloquial : "kilom�tres � l'heure". nNone of them are abridged when speaking. Louis
