My exchange of messages with Marcus seems to have evolved into large messages discussing many issues in each message. I propose to divide the question. Here are some issues that I think we have discussed and on which I see no further action available to me. I have brought these up with NIST's representative on the CCU (the pertainent committee). Now what I must do is to wait and let other people convey their opinions to their representatives.
Those issues, which I think are very low in priority, are: 1- a new name for the kilogram, one not employing a prefix and 2- consistency in use of uppercase or lowercase for prefix symbols. (I have a current interest in photometric quantities, but I'll let that slide for now.) Those people here who are citizens of other countries (other than the US) might call their governments' lead metrology agency to see who their representative is.
