With
Dr. Ferdinand Pieech himself at the wheel, the new VW 1 Liter proved it can
travel Germany's autobahns sipping a mere 0.89 liters of diesel fuel per 100 km.
That is the equivant of 264 mpg.
Germany's AutoBild reports that Dr. Pieech's test drive from Wolfsburg to Hamburg along Germany's A10 was beset by rain and low clouds which forced VW's chairman to turn on the little two seater's (in tandem) headlights and windshield wipers, slightly reducing the car's already amazing performance.
At the end of the 219.3 kilometer (136mi) trip, Dr. Pieech got out of the car at Hamburg's Four Seasons Hotel with a big smile on his face.
It say's nothing about converting to US customary units. It just says that 0/89 L/100 km is the same as 264 mpg. But, unless you convert to mpg yourself, you have no clue if the mpg is US or imperial. I have no intention of checking it out, because I don't care. But, you have to be very careful when quoting FFU, as you never know what version is being used.
