I caught a CNN segment last night, regarding the "corpse" flower in bloom at Kew Gardens. The CNN lead in was fully non-SI but, with one exception, the on-scene and on-camera narrator used only SI units. She said the bloom was "9 feet tall, roughly two and three-quarters meters". Later she said that the fragrance was detectable "a kilometer away" with no parallel statement in miles.
