Just a small side note to say that that's not exactly what I had in mind with my 
comment, Pat.  What I meant was that there is no literary meaning in the popular 
jargon sense.  You're evidently absolutely right in calling the attention to the fact 
that a space in this case would make a huge difference.  In addition, my example 
(without a space) was not aimed at highlighting this particular problem in the media.
