OWM in NIST has recently been elevated to a "Division" of NIST, and
the "Metric Program" is now the "Laws and Metric Group."  These changes
might be a sign of greater emphasis on the SI in objectives of the US
Department of Commerce.

If that is true, perhaps Henry Oppermann or Ken Butcher would be
willing to elaborate on the improving prospects for the SI in the
form of an amended FPLA and in other pending legislation?
