This is more to do with economics than politics.  We have been in a
depressed economy for close to two years now.  The average worker can not
afford to go on vacation, let alone a vacation to Europe.  Many of the
people who did go to Europe on those 7 countries in two week bus trips were
retired Americans.  But, many of them lost a lot of their retirement savings
in the stock market decline over the past few months that they can't afford
to go.  And with the appreciation of the Euro relative to the dollar, it
makes the trip even more expensive.

Americans don't like to admit that they are either poor or broke or both.
So, they will blame it on everything else.
