In the UK, the retailer Marks & Spencer has actually used metric labels (so far still dual labeling) for a couple of years already, which I think simplified my clothes shopping significantly. It was therefore not a big surprise, when I read on http://www.fb-network.de/deutsch/presse_eugroessen06.htm that an employee of Marks & Spencer (Jerry Dunleavy) was one of the driving forces behind getting many large European clothes retailer chains to work together on the new measurement-based metric labeling standard. The EN 13402 is scheduled to be published completely in its final version in 2004, by which time it will have officially superceeded any related previous national standards in the EU.
