That would give rise to two units for a temperature difference. Currently,
the only acceptable SI unit for relative temperatures is the kelvin.

The use of the kelvin both for temperature differences and for actual
temperature is internally consistent, given that the reference point for
actual temperature is absolute zero. I find the arbitrary zero point for the
Celsius scale problematic in that respect.
