Robert, I'm not certain that this decision will have to go before the
CGPM. I think that the CIPM can make this ruling on its own, due to its
editorial nature. At least that's the impression I gained at the IEEE
SCC14 meeting last Friday, where Barry Taylor reported as our nation's
CCU representative. (The CCU writes the SI brochure and the BIPM
publishes it, both on behalf of the CIPM.)

Since, at that meeting, we were discussing putting into print (in SI
10) essentially what CIPM has ruled informally, we decided to wait until
that ruling appeared in print from the BIPM. That is, we decided to wait
until the SI brochure change was published. That may be much sooner than
the next CGPM meeting which is a few years off.

I think that your suggested boiler-plate is excellent, Robert.

Nor does "metric system". And there is no need for it to appear here!
