Thanks for the directions. I have now discovered your quotation. I note that it is in a document about the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act. I am afraid that we won't be able to find the text of the NIST comment because it may not have been posted on the WWW. I suspect that the FPLA quotation is not exact because I think that NIST would not make such a stupid statement. I think that NIST was arguing that the expression "SI metric" was redundant since of course SI is metric. The FPLA version implies that previous versions of the metric system are not metric.

I am getting tired of this discussion. This is my 13th posing on the subject and I shall not answer further postings.
