Boeing's new Delta 4 satellite launch vehicle is apparently designed to metric specifications. The article consistently describes the upper stages and payload fairings as "4 meter" and "5 meter" versions. The 5 meter upper stage is lengthened by "half a meter" and its engine produces a rational 110 kN of thrust. The Delta 4 does have some legacy components (the optional 60" diameter strap-on solid rocket motors), but these came from earlier programs. -- Jason
