Bad-mouthing the U.S. certainly won't bring people to our side. Neither will overbearance or insistence on weird thinks like k$ and Mg. **************
I suppose I've been guilty of writing some
apparently anti-US statements in some of my letters to papers and postings here,
but they are only designed to try and jerk free this crazy John Wayne mentality
that is hurting the US so much.
If a doctor hurts a child by giving it an injection
of life-saving drugs, does he go to court for hurting the child? If a parent
gives a sick child some foul-tasting medicine because it's going to make him/her
better, does the parent get put down for this action? No, and neither should a
'foreigner' who greatly cares for the general welfare and future of his buddy.
Hence some 'kick-in-the-pants' type remarks now and again to various people.
They're not designed to offend - just to make the
other person see some realism, that's all. Especially hard in the US's case, as
one has to overcome the 'We're the greatest' mentality that Americans seem to be
born with.
It's a delicate balancing act, but the doctor with
his needle or the dentist yanking out a bad tooth doesn't have time for
niceties.
