You are confusing gauge and pitch.

Gauge is the distance between two conventional railroad tracks or span
(width) of the track itself in the case of a maglev. Pitch is the slope of
the track from one side to the other.

Stan Doore

I am not confusing gauge with pitch. From your definition of pitch, if I understand you, the maximum of value of pitch would be 2.8 m.

In reply to G. Stqanley Doore's USMA 24355:

Thanks, but I still don't understand. How can the outside of the
track be 5.1 m higher than the inside of the track when the track
 gauge is only 2.8 m?
