Title: Yemen
It has been alleged that Yemen is not metric.  The following is the reply I have just received from a consulting geologist who has worked in Yemen:

Joe: Sorry it took me so long to respond to your e-mail. When I was in Yemen, the metric system was in common use in surface measurements. I rather suspect that down in Aden there was still some use of the English system. I must admit that in some areas outside of the major population centers I do not remember exactly if metric was used or a local method for weights and volumes. In official circles we used metric in dealing with the government, perhaps because I was under a UN subcontract. I do believe that metric was the common system accepted officially. I hope this is an answer, not UN diplo-speak.
