It has been alleged that Yemen is not metric. The following
is the reply I have just received from a consulting geologist who has
worked in Yemen:

I rather suspect that down in Aden there was still some use of the English system. In official circles we used metric in dealing with the government, perhaps because I was under a UN subcontract. I do believe that metric was the common system accepted officially.
