HEADLINE: American National Standard for Metric System use now available from ASTM. (Industry News).

BODY:
W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. -- The updated and revised Standard for the Use of the International System of Units (SI): The Modern Metric System (IEEE/ASTM SI-10-2002) is available from ASTM International. IEEE/ASTM SI-10-2002 helps users understand and apply SI in the internationally accepted manner. The 69-page document is the American National Standard for the use of the modern metric system.

This work provides material that clearly defines and comments on SI quantities and units used to describe such properties as mass, force, weight, temperature, pressure, angle, moment of inertia and kinetic energy. It gives descriptions of the two classes of units, base and derived, that make up SI, providing clear guidance on writing SI symbols correctly. Also included are rules for conversion and rounding, and numerous easy-to-understand tables.
