I can post. But I say newsgroups are about as effective in today's internet as Gopher. It's still there, but it's purpose and use is waining.

To that end, I'd say creating a metric newsgroups would be borderline useless.
But to each their own.

And first-hand experience tells me that every forum or mailing list where someone gripes about the traffic and has attempted to migrate that traffic to a newsgroup setting, that forum or mailing-list has virtually died as a result of it.

I say the following, "Why bother? Don't bother?"

We need votes to create a newsgroup. We can succeed in getting a newsgroup
about the 'metric system' where all subtopics are valid (as long as enough
people here vote). We are not yet able to raise enough votes for the initial
creation of one or several subtopics.

My main aim is to find out if people can post to newsgroups. Can you post?
