Got it! Thanks. My Dell laptop has no separate numeric keypad, they are
embedded in the middle and accessed via a Fn key. So I have to hold down Fn
and hold down Alt then press keys 0,1,2,8 in succession. The number does not
appear until I release the Alt and Fn key.

Ooo. This must be a feature of Outlook. How do I change the setting?

Thanks for the free advice.
