Land area is measured using the hectare (symbol: ha). 1
ha = 10,000 square meters. A square 1 hectare field has sides that are 100
meters long, which is approximately the length of a US football field plus its
end zones.
The volume of freezers and refrigerators is measured in
liters. For very large commercial units with "walk-in" space (such as
those used in restaurants), cubic meters might be used.
In a separate off-list e-mail message, I'm going to send you a
copy of a metric style and usage guide that I wrote. (If anyone else is
interested in receiving a copy of it, e-mail me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] .) --
