Land area is measured using the hectare (symbol: ha).  1 ha = 10,000 square meters.  A square 1 hectare field has sides that are 100 meters long, which is approximately the length of a US football field plus its end zones.

The volume of freezers and refrigerators is measured in liters.  For very large commercial units with "walk-in" space (such as those used in restaurants), cubic meters might be used.

In a separate off-list e-mail message, I'm going to send you a copy of a metric style and usage guide that I wrote.  (If anyone else is interested in receiving a copy of it, e-mail me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] .)  --  Jason

Subject: [USMA:26843] Questions

Hello could someone please tell me what the proper S I unit is to measure land area?  What is the way to measure volume of apliances such as deep freezers and fridges?  Is it cubic meters or liters? Thanks.
