I think that this is worthy of discussion, because it stands as a classic sticking point. I think that the suggestion to leave it for a while in the side-track of unchanged, culturally resistant traditions is the best. In the long run, perhaps the NFL will rebuild stadia to accommodate a metric and decimal system. Changing a first down to nine meters is not likely to receive a great deal of support.
