Having both on the dial is LAW for the US. Not to mention that the Canadians just eat up Chevys and Pontiacs for some reason.
So no...there is no move away from putting km/h on the dials.

To me the circle looks analog from the picture in the newspaper. The small rectangle at the bottom of the circle shows PRNDL and the number 263 followed by some kind of symbol which looks to be inset as I have seen digitals to be. It is difficult to tell positively from the picture in the newspaper, however. During a weekday, I could try calling a Chevy dealer and asking specifically if the 2004 Malibu speedometer is digital and capable of showing km/h in addition to MPH.
