Excellent reading! It is not directly related to
metric, but on the lack of concern on the falling dollar.
There are a series of links in the article that lead to
other articles. They are all good.
For two years, proponents of metric having been looking
for the right catalyst to spring this country towards metrication. But
none seems to have arrived so far. A weak dollar or collapsed US economy
may be that very catalyst needed. To pay off the debts in a post dollar
hegemonic era, the US will have to become an exporting nation, exporting
products, not industries and jobs. In order to succeed at exporting the US
will have to metricate or at least metricate enough to make it expensive to
continue to function either as a dual unit country or in FFU at all. It is
a harsh was to bring about metrication, but sometimes the harsh methods are all
that work.
