Do you mean *2* years ago?  If so, I recall so too -- or at least that I
was very pleasantly surprised by the greatly increased use of metric in
NBC's coverage of the 2002 Winter Games at SLC.  As I recall, ski jump
distances were given in metric primarily, with (occasional?) conversions.
That struck me as a definite change from past practice of 'hiding' metric
altogether.  Likewise for bobsled/luge speeds -- they at least didn't try
to hide the display of km/h in the shared video feeds.  Anyone else recall
other examples?

Hardly ideal, of course, but definitely an improvement over previous
coverage..  Might want to take an encouraging tone in those letters --
encouraging NBC to continue this trend into the Summer Games!
