I am glad that their cause has collapsed. If they won out, the W&M legislation
of all EU member states would become null and void overnight. I wonder, is
this rant 'Breaking News' from the BWMA, the UKIP or an Europhobic newspaper?
They have big words about democracy, but they conventiently forget that
British (and other nations') W&M legislation has never been 'democratic'. It
has always imposed the use of legal units in trade.
It seems: Democracy is ifp, dictatorship is metric!
When the Imperial system was established in the 19th centry, a lot of units
were banned: undemocratic. A unit, the Butcher's stone of 8 lbs, was banned
around 1835: undemocratic. It was again banned in 1936, as it had held out
stubbornly! Banning this unit was undemocratic as well if I accept their line
of reasoning.

I am in Ireland. No activity yet om road metrication. Buyt it is still too
early. Maybe in summer I wil be able to see it coming. I wish I was in Ireland
on M-Day! The IAML will not like the collapse of the MM cause either!
