As chance would have it, I was in another part of town this morning and wanted
to buy a newspaper. I popped in to a 'local stores' shop. On the street
outside I noticed all their fruit & veg (loose) had 'kilo' written against
the prices (by hand). No mention of lbs. Inside, they had various deli items
like cheeses. All these had the metric price only, many using 'kg' correctly
(again, hand-written using felt-tip pen). I looked at the scales. Both sets
were modern, digital machines, displaying prices per kg or 100 g, and masses
in kg only. I'm sure they could be switched internally to display lbs, but
the kg/100 g indicators were printed on the display cover, so there is no way
they could be switched to suit the customer.

This was in a more affluent, 'Bohemian' part of town, and the sort of place
that one might expect MM support, so it was particularly gratifying.
