And being perched 2 meters above the ground, atop a one-tonne war horse
wearing 180 kg of his/her own equine armor, traveling at 50 km/h, must have
greatly amplified said excitement! These photographs of modern day jousting
re-enactments http://www.blackforestshires.com/joust/jousting.htm show that
draft horses still have that ancestral "fight" in their blood--they are just
as competitive as their riders. -- Jason

Subject: [USMA:29323] Great example of metric muddle in the UK

> Was watching the Military History channel tonight and caught a show done
in the UK about the history of using stones and spears as weapons.

> The phrase that caught my attention was uttered by one of the armourists
who described the experience of a mediaeval knight thus: "Carrying a 10 foot
lance while wearing 6 or 7 stones of armour whilst peering through a 6
millimetre slit must have been quite exciting!"

> Best of luck to Chris Keenan, the UKMA, and their allies in sorting things
out over there in Old Blighty!!!
