Such changes would change virtually every unit of the SI. Since that is the case, I conclude that Brij's proposals would DESTROY SI and therefore I wonder why he is communicating with us on a listserver dedicated to PROMOTING SI.
His ideas are antithetical to the promotion of the simple, coherent and world-wide accepted International System of Units. I've heard enough of them to understand how badly they would impact SI and I really don't care to hear any more about them.

If he means this new metre would related to the distance that one degree of longitude would have on the surface of the planet Earth, then it would be relatively meaningless on another planet. One of the beauties of SI is that is is NOT dependent on measurements of the irregular and always changing planet Earth.)
