Since the late 70's Howard.  I remember it well, as I was in your neck
of the woods (Binghamton) going to grad school at the time.  Conversion
started around 77-78, with dual measurements for a year or so and then
metric-only.  I was happy to see that and also a little irate, since a
couple to the liquor stores were doing exactly what you say,
back-converting to floozy measurement.  But that was 25 years ago and I
don't see it now.

How long has liquor (wine and sprits) been hard metric? If I am correct,
are most bottles labeled in ml only? I don't think there are any
regulations that require English measurements be used in advertisements.

I ask because we have one local Liquor store here advertising in ounces
obviously converted. The ad is very odd. Several other stores use the
metric labeling.  Before I write them I want some facts to use in the
letter.
