Hi Bill i live in British Columbia. We have a
very large department store here in Canada Named Canadian tire. If you get
one of their flyers or catalogs all measurements are in imperial only. I
have called their customer service department about 3 times and am going to keep
on them to try and start them to use metric measurements. The
argument i have heard from some companys and anti metric people is that people
over the age of 50 can't learn the metric system. I will be 55 next month
and i get very annoied when somebody trys to tell me that i am to old to learn
something. I think people over the age of 50 should be upset about this
kind of attitude. Could you imagine the uproar if the attitude was that
women couldn't learn the metric system. I don't know if this attitude is
in the states, but the BWMA certainly seem to promote this kind of
attitude. I think in some ways the UK is farther ahead in metric then Canada,
but i'm not sure. As far as i know all road cunstruction in Canada is done
in metric. John Mercer
