Can anyone from the UK verify the statement made below?  Is FFU now more popular in the UK then in the '70s.?

In the 70's there was a strong opinion in favour of metric in the UK. Ever since imperial has gained and gained in preference. This is why legal threats can only force people to have machines in mixed units or metric only.

But no law stops humans from continuing to use them, and the trend is not in metric's favour.

I saw a weather report from 1979 the other day (they were replaying the entire Thatcher election) - they only mentioned Celsius (as centigrade!).

Now most newscasters also say the Fahrenheit scale.

There's a new show on UKTV where two brothers in their early twenties do some cooking (I've never seen it before, since its a bit girly). Have a guess what system was used for over 90% of the time?
