One thing that I have done is, in cases where metric
and imperial are both listed, but the imperial is primary
with the metric listed in parentheses as a secondary 
measurement, I have edited the entry to make the 
metric measurement the primary one, with the imperial
listed as secondary.  The Wikipedians don't seem to have a problem with making the 
metric primary if the item being discussed is of a scientific nature or if it 
discusses something based or located outside the US.  When it's of
a US nature, they tend to want the imperial value first.  

Also, they don't seem to mind if you round 
soft metric conversions to more sensible rounded
metric values, when precision is not of that much
importance.
