The Foot-Ounce-Ouncedal
System

This system does not actually exist, but it *IS* a
highly compelling implied system.
That is to say, all of the following units exist by
implication (just as the S dry gallon exists by implication), but actually not
in practice.
All the following holds true with no change whatsoever
to any of our current English units.
Units: Length: Foot (ft) Mass: Ounce (oz)
Time: Second (s) Force: Ouncedal (ol-- on the analogy on "poundal")
Energy/Work: Fozdal (fol) [foot-ouncedal] Power: Fols
[foot-ouncedal/second] Volume: Cuf = 1 cubic foot = 1000oz water
1 Ouncedal is very close to one gram-force in size. To
be more precise:
1 ouncedal = 1/514.7848 pound-force 1
kilouncedal = 31.08oz (i.e. very close to two pounds, more so than a kilogram)
1 Megouncedal = very close to the US ton
My opinion:
It is amazing that people can't come to grips with
reality and will do anything to keep alive a collection of units that is
slowly, but surely being phased out.
