Does that mean that all new cars sold in Ireland will be
metric after 2005-01-01 as previously planned? If I'm not mistaken, to
meet the deadline, manufacturers need at least a 3 month lead. That means
beginning 2004-10-01 cars made for shipment to Ireland will have to be made with
kilometre instruments, correct?
Further delays, if any, will result in cars with metric
instruments being sold in Ireland before the speed limit signs actually
change.
